Pierce's Pitt Bar-B-Que was an integral part of the Run for the Dream held May 21st and 22nd on the campus of the College of William & Mary. The 8k race on Saturday was run to benefit the Achievable Dream School in Newport News; while the half marathon on Sunday benefitted the Wounded Warrior Program. We are proud to say that all of the food served was donated by Pierce?s and prepared by Pierce's employees. We served thousands of sandwiches and got lots of very positive feedback thanking us for participating!

We met one nine year old that ran the half marathon! A few of the participants were in their 70's and 80's. Some of the best compliments came from our loyal customers that were running. It is sometimes amazing to just stand back and listen to the wonderful memories they have of being in our restaurant and having a good meal.

A special thank you goes to Dan Roseman, our Sysco representative, and to Glen Ayres. Both of these men donated their time to help us make our weekend a success. We were also helped by volunteers from Peninsula Catholic High School - they were great to work with! Last but not least, we had our restaurant run smoothly due to the employees that were left behind to man the store! All in all a success to be proud of!

A customer got in touch with us and had used a bottle of the barbecue sauce that had been purchased at least two years ago. The bottle had never been opened. The sauce still tasted great! Some things never get old.

With the taste of Pierce's Bar-B-Que Sauce on our lips and on our mind, we decided to have a little contest! So, please send us any recipes that you have using THE sauce. We will try each one that is sent in and pick our favorite! The prize will be a $25.00 Pierce?s gift certificate with the recipe being published in a future newsletter!!!

All submissions must be received by July 15, 2011.
